In short
This remote freelance role pays 30 to 45 USD per hour and has 10 openings. You would listen to short field recordings and write down what you hear, such as instruments, tempo, key, and background sounds. It suits musicians, educators, and audio pros with a sharp ear.
What you will do
- Listen to short field recordings through headphones in a quiet space.
- Note which instruments you hear, along with the tempo and key.
- Mark background sounds such as traffic, sirens, or applause, with timestamps.
- Compare two recordings of the same song made in different places and note what changed.
- Later, check AI descriptions of clips and mark what is correct, wrong, or invented, with a short written reason.
What you need to apply
- At least 3 years of hands-on music or audio experience.
- Ability to pick out single instruments in noisy, real-world sound.
- Comfort with repetitive annotation work in a web platform, using dropdowns and timestamps.
- Clear written English for short, evidence-based notes.
- Quality headphones, a quiet workspace, reliable internet, and availability of 20, 25 hrs/week.
Who can apply
Anyone can apply from any country, since no country restriction is stated. Students may apply, but you still need at least 3 years of experience.
My tip
We suggest you include a short example of a time you picked out instruments or measured tempo in a noisy mix, because clear proof of your listening skills stands out.
