How to apply on micro1: registration, interview and payment

Updated Oct 11, 2026 · 4 min read

Applying on micro1 requires understanding each step, from initial registration to receiving your payments. On this remote mission platform, you will find various offers for beginner or experienced profiles. Whether you are looking to evaluate AI agents, code, or participate in human data exercises, the process follows a very precise structure. We guide you through this journey to help you grasp each key moment without stress and best prepare your application.

What micro1 offers

On micro1, you can explore all open offers directly on the opportunities portal. Missions cover very different fields, ranging from video game development to code review, including medical or legal expertise. The majority of displayed roles are remote contractor positions. You will discover clear descriptions that indicate whether the role requires a presence in the United States or if it is open to the entire world. Missions often rely on specific tasks or flexible participation in project milestones.

Creating your profile

To begin, you must submit your application by answering basic screening questions. Depending on the targeted position, certain missions require precise prerequisites, such as a university degree, specific experience of a few years, or mastery of professional tools. For other roles, no prior artificial intelligence experience is requested, as it is your main area of expertise that counts. For example, some evaluator roles simply request an active personal AI account and a smartphone capable of screen recording. Take the time to properly fill out your information to maximize your chances from the start.

The interview and tests

On micro1, each candidate goes through an artificial intelligence-assisted interview to assess their real skills in a fast and structured manner. This conversational exchange takes place with a virtual recruiter named Zara. The major advantage is that this interview is available on demand and can be done at any time and from any location. Depending on your specialty, the process includes adapted tests. Technical roles integrate a coding challenge, while annotator roles feature a human data exercise. In the end, you get a real-time result indicating whether you meet micro1's global certification criteria. If you do not reach certification, you have the opportunity to request feedback to understand your areas for improvement.

Getting paid

Once you are selected for a role, you receive a notification email with the details of the next steps. This email directs you to your talent portal, linked to your personal email address, where you can review the offer and choose to accept or decline it. If you accept, your onboarding checklist opens automatically. Most steps are self-service to allow you to advance at your own pace, while a few steps require team support. You can create a support ticket directly from the portal in case of a problem. For compensation, work accomplished from the first to the fifteenth of the month is paid around the twentieth, while work carried out from the sixteenth to the end of the month is settled around the fifth of the following month. Approvals generally take place around the third and the eighteenth, and the actual funds arrive on the payroll platform around the fifth or the twentieth. All payrolls are processed in the PST timezone, which can slightly shift dates depending on your place of residence. For US-based contractors, payments may take one extra business day due to constraints related to payment methods. If the fifth or the twentieth falls on a weekend or a US bank holiday, payment is postponed to the next business day. Finally, you can access your tax forms and obtain work or payment confirmations for housing or other procedures directly in your Deel account.

Our advice before applying

Before getting started, we advise you to carefully check all the criteria requested in the offer that interests you. Make sure you have the required equipment, whether it is a specific account, a smartphone, or particular tools. Be ready to pass the interview with artificial intelligence by preparing concrete examples of your past achievements. Keep in mind that refusing an offer has no impact on future proposals. If you are already working on a project, know that working on two pipelines simultaneously requires the approval of the managers of each pipeline. Finally, if you encounter a significant payment delay, do not hesitate to directly contact your pipeline manager to quickly take stock.
