Bluebook Citation Specialist (Law Students & Recent JDs)

In short
This remote freelance role with micro1 asks you to apply your Bluebook skills to a legal citation project. If you have checked citations for a law review or journal, you already know much of the core work. No prior AI experience is needed, because your citation knowledge and editing judgment matter most.
What you will do
- Check existing Bluebook and pincite grading rubrics, and point out rules that are unclear or could be applied differently by different editors.
- Suggest how to handle edge cases that the rubrics do not yet cover.
- Write sample cite-checking tasks that include source material, flawed citations, the correct answer, and an explanation of the rule.
- Send unclear cases to project coordinators instead of deciding them on your own.
What you need to apply
- Current law school enrollment or a recent JD graduation.
- Hands-on Bluebook experience, including pincites, short forms, signals, and parentheticals.
- Law journal or law review editing experience, ideally with cite-checking.
- The ability to explain why a citation is wrong, and to work carefully and meet deadlines on your own.
Who can apply
This job is open worldwide, with no country restriction stated. Students may apply, as well as recent law graduates.
My tip
We suggest you explain your reasoning in your screening answers and AI interview, not only the final answer, because the client cares about why a citation is wrong.
