Energetic Materials Expert for Redteaming
- Pay: $60 / hour
- Contract: Contract
- Who can apply: Open worldwide
- Posted Sep 9, 2026
In short
This remote freelance role asks experts in explosives and energetic materials to test how AI models handle technical questions. You decide whether a question is harmless, borderline, or dangerous, and you explain each decision in writing. It may suit chemists and engineers who know their field well and enjoy careful, clear reasoning.
What you will do
- Write tough one-message questions in your field, sorted into three levels: benign, dual-use, and adversarial.
- Check the AI's replies against a set standard and decide whether each reply was handled correctly.
- Write a model answer that shows what a correct reply looks like, with the technical reasoning behind it.
What you need to apply
- Either chemistry expertise in specialty materials, or engineering or operator experience with initiation and propulsion systems.
- Clear writing, so that a non-specialist can follow your reasoning.
- Prior AI evaluation or red-teaming experience is preferred, but not required.
- A writing sample or link, such as technical reports, incident reports, or published research, is a strong plus.
Who can apply
The role is open to applicants worldwide, as no country restriction is stated. The work is remote and the contract is freelance, paid at 60 USD per hour.
My tip
Include a short writing sample with your application, and say in your application if you have any NDA, classified-information, or export-control obligations, so the work can be scoped to fit.
