In short
This freelance role asks you to write hard technical problems from your own engineering field and to say exactly what a correct answer looks like. It fits experts in manufacturing, industrial, or mechanical engineering who want extra remote work next to their current job. The schedule is flexible, and the pay is 85 to 185 USD per hour.
What you will do
- Write difficult technical problems from your own area, such as process design, production systems, quality engineering, automation, or supply chain modeling, with realistic limits and supporting data.
- Solve each problem yourself and explain step by step how you reach the correct answer.
- Set clear, objective rules for judging an answer, so another expert would reach the same verdict.
- Check problems written by other contributors for technical accuracy and sound method, and flag any that are unclear or impossible to grade.
What you need to apply
- A Master's degree or PhD in manufacturing, industrial, mechanical engineering, or a closely related field.
- Principal, staff, or fellow-level experience at a major manufacturing organization, or a faculty post at a leading university.
- Deep technical knowledge in at least one subdomain, with hands-on experience in that work.
- The ability to explain why an answer is correct clearly enough for another engineer to check it.
Who can apply
The role is open worldwide, with no country restriction stated, so people from any country can apply. The work is fully remote and paid under a freelance contract.
My tip
Before you start, pick two or three real problems from your past work and write down the method and the correct answer, since the screening questions and the AI interview will test how clearly you explain your reasoning.
