Military Operations & IHL Expert

In short

micro1 is looking for Military Operations and IHL Experts to help train AI systems. You will use your knowledge of warfare, targeting and international humanitarian law to shape how AI models learn to handle military and humanitarian scenarios. This freelance role may suit you if you have deep domain expertise and do not need any prior AI background.

What you will do

• Build detailed categories of military use and defense operations across different conflict settings.
• Design frameworks that help tell apart military and civilian uses of technology and knowledge.
• Set clear limits on help that international humanitarian law prohibits, and give structured input for AI training and testing.
• Write clear analyses of complex warfare, targeting and IHL ideas for readers from other fields.

What you need to apply

• 5+ years of relevant military, defense analysis, or IHL experience.
• An advanced degree such as an MA, LLM or PhD, or equivalent operational experience in military science, security studies, international law or related fields.
• A solid track record in warfighting, operational planning, targeting law, or humanitarian law.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, so you can explain complex ideas simply.

Who can apply

The role is open worldwide, with no country restriction stated in the posting. It is a remote freelance contract paying 50 to 90 USD per hour.
