In short
This freelance role asks you to review inpatient medical records and code them accurately, so AI systems can learn from correct medical data. You will check diagnoses, procedures and DRG groupings, then explain errors in writing. It may suit coders who already work with hospital records and want to use their skills from home.
What you will do
- Check inpatient medical records to make sure ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes are right under current rules.
- Choose the main diagnosis and secondary diagnoses, put the codes in the correct order, and mark Present on Admission indicators.
- Check MS-DRG groupings, including CCs and MCCs, and flag hospital-acquired conditions and patient safety indicators.
- Compare AI-written clinical notes and summaries with real records and coding standards.
- Write clear feedback on coding errors and tricky cases so the AI gets better.
What you need to apply
- Required credential: MEDICAL_CODER.
- Preferred: an active coding certification such as CIC, CCS, RHIA, RHIT or COC.
- Experience with inpatient ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding.
- Access to up-to-date official ICD-10-CM/PCS coding books and Coding Clinic guidance.
- Availability of at least 10 hours per week.

This role is open to residents of the US, for a remote freelance contract. Pay is 50 to 70 USD per hour.
My tip
We suggest you confirm your MEDICAL_CODER credential and your weekly hours before you apply, since there are 50 openings and the role needs at least 10 hours per week.
