Law Student

  • Pay: $50 to $80 / hour
  • Contract: Contract
  • Who can apply: United States
  • Posted Oct 22, 2026

In short

This remote freelance role asks law students to use their legal knowledge to help train next-generation AI systems. You do not need prior AI experience, because your knowledge of law is what matters most. It pays 50 to 80 USD per hour and may suit you if you are studying law and want paid work that uses what you learn.

What you will do

  • Read, analyze and mark up complex U.S. legal documents, giving accurate and detailed feedback.
  • Draft, edit and improve legal content so that AI models learn from better data.
  • Check citations and format legal materials according to the Bluebook.
  • Explain tricky legal ideas and the reasoning behind them in clear, short writing.
  • Check the legal accuracy of content and answer questions from the project team.

What you need to apply

  • Be a current law student enrolled at a U.S. law school.
  • Have experience as an editor for a law review or legal journal, which the posting requires for students.
  • Know the Bluebook very well and have proven cite-checking skills; the posting lists this as a preferred qualification.
  • Write and speak clearly, with close attention to detail.

Who can apply

Residents of the US may apply, and students are welcome to apply. The work is remote and is done under a freelance contract.

My tip

Put your law review or legal journal editing experience near the top of your application, since it is the key point the team looks for in students. We recommend also showing a short sample of your Bluebook and cite-checking work.
