In short
Mercor is helping an AI research lab build more natural text-to-speech voices. You would record your South African English voice for training a customer-support AI agent, paid 50 to 100 USD per hour on a freelance contract. It may suit you if you have a clear voice, call-center or customer-service experience, or are just starting out.
What you will do
- Record voice samples in many styles, such as conversation, narration and instructions.
- Speak clearly and naturally, controlling tone, pace and pronunciation.
- Keep the same voice, accent and delivery across recording sessions.
- Follow detailed rules on your recording space, microphone and file format.
- Do several takes with different emotion, emphasis or style when asked.
What you need to apply
- Native English speaker with an authentic South African accent, living in South Africa.
- A clear, natural, expressive voice. Acting or customer-support experience helps but is not required.
- A good recording setup, such as a quality microphone, a quiet room and a pop filter.
- Availability for one session of approximately 4 hours, with a possible second session of similar length.
- Willingness to have your voice cloned for the client's CX AI agent.
Who can apply
Residents of South Africa (ZA) may apply. Students may apply too.
My tip
Test your recording setup in a quiet room before you apply, since a good setup is required and we recommend checking it first.
